When it comes promoting one’s website, it’s one thing which can’t be taken for granted. One of my bosses will always tell me; ‘Doing business without advertising is like standing in the dark and winking at a girl, you know what you’re doing but no one elses sees you.’
As Ryan rightly stated, commenting is one element which can’t in anyway be taken for granted and I just love doing that.

I see that you mention the traditional word of mouth method. I know from experience that this can be very effective, particularly if you have a locally oriented website. People are much more likely to check the URL out if they know it’s been created by someone who lives in their city. They just feel a greater sense of identification.
