I know you have something to say about spam comment topic, there is crucial loss if your comment is a spam, why don’t you share your experience in comment boxes below

  1. Great article Okto, So far that I am aware, I have had all of my comments that I have done to other blogs accepted due to the fact I do the things right. I always read the article I have commented on, I elaborate on the point and not just put ‘Great article’, I never put in keywords or links. i only use real email addresses.

I do share stories of things that have happened to me that relates to the blog post, in many ways I create content and as we know content is king! I think with the new Google changes, everyone is going to be forced to only do proper comments anyway, it isn’t worth wasting the time only to be penalized.

Thanks for a great post and speak soon.

      Hi Andi,

Having all of our comments accepted and published is an advantage we can have in blogging experience. It’s a smart way to introduce our expertise and online presence to the internet audiences. The best part I like is … it’s open the door of relationship. :)

      Thanks for sharing your experience

  2. Commenting on blogs has been a very easy way to promote one’s website, but of course it is a sign of courtesy (to the blog we are commenting on) to write a comment that will give value to the readers and to the blog post as well.

      Hi Felicia,
You are right about courtesy matters. Be sure give a good comment just like you did :)

  3. Absolutely right, Okto. Lots of people always think SPAM has to do only with bots or some script. You made it quite clear that even manually commenting can be spamming. Spam is generally what people don’t want so if you say unrelated stuff with links, then you are spamming.

      Hi Enstine,

Thanks for your support :) . If our comments are considered as spam by the admin (or akismet), we are in a great lost. Comments is a good way to spread our blog link and increase visibility through out the net.

  4. Fabrizio

I 100% agree with you Okto, I spend endless hours scanning over spam comments that contain everything and anything that promotes something or other. Often for me the comments that I get rid of are the ones that have no relevancy to the content and adds zero value. I don’t mind the odd ‘great post, thanks for sharing’, but generally I like comments that are well thought out, have a point of view and creates the need for a conversation.

I was having a lot of automated spam at one stage where deleting pages and pages of them on a daily basis became a time consuming task. I found a useful plugin called Gromap Anti Spam-bot and this instantly stopped two thirds of the spam comments I was receiving.

Thanks for your support and plugin recommendation, that’s worthy to try :)

  5. Comments are really necessary for a blog. But spam comments are really annoying. Okto, you mentioned in a guest post that spam comments can be turned into an advantage for blog admins. But what can we do if the spammer posts complete junk in the body of the comment?

      Hi Naser,

Yup that’s my guest post in netchunks. If that’s the case … then it’s completely junk (just erased). As I suggest in that post, only the best of the best deserved to be published :).

We can start from the name (choose human name). Like yours here is Ok (eventhough I guess there is keyword in it :) ).

If you don’t mind we can have further discussion through email about this, just check out “About me : Where to Find Me” :).

      Speak soon.
