What is airdrop? Such question may come to your mind when you start interest with cryptocurrencies. Many people are still confused by the word ‘airdrop’.
I will explain in detail.
Airdrop is a company that gives cryptocurrency for free.
In the crypto world, there are several ways to get crypto money without capital, among others, by mining or airdrop.
Does the company really give us money for no reason?
The answer is Yes and no.
Yes because they give us crypto money for free. Once again I will remind you that what you receive is CRYPTO MONEY or cryptocurrency. This cryptocurrency can be exchanged into fiat money if their cryptographic money has been traded on the exchange.
No because they usually do airdrops for marketing and people can get to know the coin more. Usually, you have to follow their Twitter and re-tweet their tweets, join their telegram group and share their Facebook.
In Indonesia, the famous exchange is Bitcoin.co.id whose name has been changed to Indodax. Actually, there are many other foreign exchanges that are more famous and are used by crypto players. Examples include Binance, Idex, OKEX, Bitrex, Idex and others.
For Airdrops players, you should register on Idex because the exchange is based on ERC-20, meaning that the exchange token that uses Ethereum as its base will be registered in this exchange.
You can very easily exchange your crypto money to Ethereum and transfer Ethereum to Indodax to be cashed into the Indonesian rupiah.
Or you can withdraw your bitcoin from indodax into your own bitcoin wallet and cash in at your desirable currency.
What is needed to participate in airdrop?
1.Crypto Wallet
It is certain that you need a digital wallet to join Airdrops. If you want airdrop from ethereum for example, MyEtherWallet is a digital wallet that is often used by crypto players. Why? Because saving in a wallet is safer than storing it in an exchange like Indodax, Binance or Bitrex.
You might think that saving in exchange is safe because they are giant companies, but it’s not wrong to be more careful with your money.
It’s safer, if you buy a hardware wallet because they can’t be hacked because the wallet isn’t connected to Wi-Fi / internet.
MyEtherWallet is a wallet for ERC-20 coin, meaning that this wallet can only store Ethereum-based coins / airdrops. You are enough to make this wallet because 99% of coins do airdrop using Ethereum.
2. Active Crypto Wallet
You must have several transactions in the wallet because some Airdrops don’t want to spread the coin to the same person. If you are new to playing crypto or airdrops, don’t be afraid, because not all airdrops do this.
Don’t be too greedy to follow airdrops who get lots of coins because airdrops like this have very strict rules.
3. Telegram account
This is one of the most important messaging applications for Airdrops and Crypto players. They, usually, will have a group on the telegram for announcements, for example when airdrops will be issued on the crypto market, news about partnerships, etc.
Make sure you don’t leave the Telegram group until you get the Coin in your wallet. If you leave the group directly, you are sure there will be no airdrops shared.
4. Twitter
Even though there are many other social media such as Facebook and Instagram, Twitter is still the number one social media for crypto news because the tweet is easier than sharing a post on Facebook. This makes the company like to make Twitter rather than Facebook because marketing through Twitter covers more people.
Almost all Airdrops that I ‘share’ always have twitter and you usually have to follow their twitter and re-tweet the post.
5. Facebook
You are not required to have this because not all airdrops have a Facebook page. But, provide an umbrella before it rains, it would be nice you have just in case.
6. Email
Already many people have e-mails, so no need more explanation for why you need it. Airdrops will send an email to confirm KYC (Know Your Customer) or form to be filled in to follow airdrops.
Don’t Get Scammed
Airdrop is free generally. That is why many people race to get it. Thus some scammers try to get opportunity from airdrop.
You might think how they can cheat us, while we don’t pay anything.
You have to remember that you have done KYC, provided email, Facebook or Twitter. In the era of technology, as it is today, information is very valuable. You have to know the legitimate airdrops that pay you. there are many websites that provide this information.
What should you do?
1. Private Key
Never give your Private Key to anyone. Many fraudsters will put you in a telegram to cheat newbies who have just entered the crypto world. Your private key is a password to enter your wallet and people who know can transfer your coins freely.
2. Deposit to collect coins
If you see airdrops like this, immediately leave. although the airdrops give large amounts of coins. Airdrops that make a deposit or ask you to send another coin to an address is a scam coin. I can assure you that you will be deceived.
3. Check sources
If a company does aidrops, they will do airdrops with a Twitter or Facebook account and they usually have a website. Airdrops that do not have a website are usually a scam although it is easy to create website nowadays.
