Holiday Travel Tips in Borobudur

  • Visiting Borobudur when the Vesak Festival, which is held once a year in May on a full moon, will provide a memorable experience. The festival invites many visitors and pilgrims to celebrate the phase of birth, the phase of death, and the phase of enlightenment of the Buddha. You can find out the tourism agenda of the previous Borobudur Temple from the Magelang or Yogyakarta Tourism Office.
  • Wear clothes that are polite and comfortable, considering the site of the Borobudur Temple is a place that is considered sacred and is a spiritual symbol of Mahayana Buddha.
  • You can hire an official tour guide to accompany a visit while in Borobudur to get complete information.
  • If the heat and sun are hot, there is no harm in renting an umbrella provided in front of the entrance gate of the Borobudur Temple Complex area. But you should also be ready for UV hats and goggles, and use sunscreen lotion.
  • The choice of renting a motorbike while in the area around Borobudur will make it easier for you to freely travel to distant places even those that are difficult to reach by large vehicles. For example Punthuk Setumbu Hill or Suroloyo Peak. The average motorcycle rental fee is IDR 50.000 – IDR 70,000 per 12 hours.
  • Provide cash during your tour, because in Magelang ATMs are still rarely found.
