What can be expected from this Texas scenic drive?
If you’ve never been to this place before and are wondering what it looks like then in the video review above you’ll see that Devil’s Backbone is a picnic spot. This location is unique in that many people leave what looks like a memorial on the guardrail.
I am a foreigner and this is my first trip to San Marcos Texas so I don’t really understand what this sign on the fence means. My guess is that it is a memory that wanted to be shared to anyone who comes to this special place. The view made this place special and peaceful.

There are 3 picnic tables available that anyone can use on the spot. There are not too many parking spaces for vehicles, so if you are not going to have picnic here you should not linger too long so that other people have the opportunity to park their cars and enjoy the atmosphere of this hill.

- Head northwest toward Florest street
- Turn right toward Florest street
- Turn right onto Florest street
- Turn right onto Cape street
- Turn right to stay on Cape street
- Turn right onto Guadalupe street
- Turn left onto IH 35 S
- Turn right onto Ranch Rd 12/Wonder world drive
- Turn left onto Farm to Market 32/Ranch Market 32
- Turn right (location on the right side from this route, there’s sign “picnic area”)
