If you live in Houston and love the beach environment, you’ve no doubt heard of Galveston. This is the closest beach you can get from Houston. However, after some time you may be curious about atmosphere of Galveston beach, indeed the water is a bit brown. Then you hear Corpus Christi, and wonder which beach is cleaner Galveston or Corpus Christi.
What’s the Suggestion?
Based on proximity from Houston, Galveston may be favorite for many visitors while it takes you around 3 hours 30 minute to drive from Houston to Corpus Christi beach.
Restaurant and entertainment are varied depends on people taste. There is similarity in restaurant availability, from steak, Asian food, seafood, etc. Slightly different with entertainment where you can rent a speedboat, kayak, or surf board in Corpus Christi I never seen one in Galveston.
In Galveston you are directly facing the gulf while in Corpus Christi, some beach like North Beach is some kind of a bay, yet the water is also connected to the gulf.

Which Beach is Cleaner Galveston of Corpus Christi?
Answering the question, I have an experience on the North Beach. It is different experience with what I have had in Galveston. The North beach in Corpus Christi has several advantages:
Many hotel/motel options that are very closes to the beach. You do not need to cross the street. You can just walk from the hotel/motel straight to the beach.
I haven’t visited the beach at Padre Island or Port Aransas, the children can’t wait anymore longer to play sand in the beach. So I am not sure if the water there is cleaner or not.
Does Corpus Christi Beach Cleaner?
One thing I do not like is the proximity. I have to drive around 3 hours to reach the North beach in Corpus Christi, because I reside in Houston. I do not see huge different between Galveston beach and North beach at Corpus Christi. The water in the North beach of Corpus Christi is slightly cleaner. I am also feel the beach on the North beach is deeper than Galveston.
The most favorite things for me are the hotel/motel location very close to the beach. I was stayed a night on Double Tree (check HERE), Corpus Christi and it was perfect proximity. I just need to walk for 5 minutes from my room to enjoy the beach on daytime.
You can reach the USS Lexington’s Museum on foot from there, and you can walk for 9 minute to reach Texas State Aquarium. There is no problem to find food, and the motel I stay provide medium refrigerator, electric stove, and microwave included with a budget price (free parking also). Here’s how I enjoy sitting on the beach, yes, just sitting and enjoy the view, wind, water … so relaxing.
