It is best to use western union apps to send money for inmate.

Before you send any money, make sure to take note information about:

Tap search facility to start. Unfortunately, not all prison facility can receive money sent by western union, that is why you need to look up the facility first.

After you find out the prison facility on the apps, fill out inmate first and last name, and inmate number.

Payment can be completed in two ways, by debit/credit card or cash in store.

I never tried “cash in store before”, my chooses payment mode is always debit/credit card. It is convenient way of payment.

Maximum amount you can send one time is $300. Fee for the transfer is $8,95.

Delivery time is less than 24 hours once it is confirmed.

Send Money for Inmate by Jpay

Another method to send money for inmate is by Jpay (Jpay.com). The service is available online and apps.

Similar to western union, you need inmate complete name, prison facility, and inmate number to be able to use Jpay. One more technicality is that you need to get prison approval before you can use Jpay for the inmate. To get approval, you must contact the prison officer directly and send the approval request form.

Most prison facility has complete information on its website especially on how to get visitation approval. You can use visitation approval form to submit your names as the inmate relative. Once approved, you should be able to send money with Jpay to the inmate.

Advantage of Jpay is that you can communicate with the inmate through email feature within Jpay. Your email content is under supervision. Yet you have to buy stamps to be able to use the email feature.

The fee to send money with Jpay is $11,95. There is more flexibility to the amount of money you can send with Jpay.
