How to regain Indonesian citizenship you may wonder. If this is your case, then you will be treated as foreigners. You have to follow requirements applied for foreigners who want to get Indonesian citizenship.
Foreign citizen can get Indonesian citizenship with the following conditions:
- Already 18 years old or already married
- When applying, you have been in Indonesia for at least 5 consecutive years or 10 consecutive years.
- Can speak Indonesian and recognize the basis of the state Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution
- Never been sentenced for committing a criminal offense punishable by a sentence of 1 year or more
- Have a steady income job
- Pay citizenship fees
How to apply for Indonesian citizenship:
- The applicant makes a written application in Indonesian with a stamp duty addressed to the President through the Minister.
- The Minister will provide consideration to the President at least 3 months after the application is received.
- If the application is accepted, the applicant will receive a Presidential Decree
- If the application is rejected, the applicant will receive an explanation of the rejection.
- Please remember if the applicant is obliged to make promises in front of the appointed official. If the applicant does not make a pledge of allegiance according to the schedule determined, the Presidential Decree is null and void.
- After making the promise, the applicant submits the immigration documents to the immigration office within 14 days of taking the oath.
- The acquisition of Indonesian citizenship will be announced by the Minister.
