Step 5: Find the ideal potential client (looking for potential customers)
Now, you need to go out and make a list of potential clients along with their contact info (email address and first name is fine).
If you get stuck, here are 11 places online to find freelance gigs:
• AngelList
• Working Nomads
• Flexjobs
• RemoteOK.io
• Facebook groups
• Craigslist
• Cold emailing your favorite brands
• Friends and family
• Your professional network or other freelancers
• Your employer or previous employer
Step 6: marketing out
Even though I am a fan of inbound marketing, when you are just starting out, you have no time to waste time. You must approach potential clients aggressively.
Step 7: Make an introductory call
After you get a number of potential clients, you will hear from several. At this point, it’s time to order an introductory call or initial consultation. This is basically where you use the telephone (or video chat) with a prospective customer and try to decide whether you are compatible with each other.
Now, don’t be afraid, but this is a sales call. Not only do you want to decide whether you are suitable, but you also want to close the transaction if you decide so.
Many new freelancers have anxiety about introductory calls. All I can say is that I did it too, and it got better with time and practice. The more introductory calls you make, the more comfortable you feel.
