The moment I stay at this hotel may not the perfect time, namely on Christmas Eve. Hotel prices tend to be expensive at this special time and many shops or restaurants around the hotel close early. However, because of work and the difficulty of arranging time off, the opportunity must be taken because it does not come twice.
My trip was made for a vacation with my family (with wife and two children). Price is an important consideration for me, then location. Downtown locations are rarely offered at low prices, especially during special holidays like Christmas Eve. Handling price issue, I am using a price comparison site ( check HERE):
The example above shows how easy it is for you to get price comparisons for a hotel for a similar choice of time, namely New Year’s Eve.
The price I got for the Hampton Inn & Suites Dallas Downtown on Christmas Eve was $148.69 for one night.
Parking is not included, I had to pay extra for valet for $56.17 per night. Valet price details are below:
The valet price itself is $ 42 but there are other costs such as convenience fees and sales taxes. Don’t forget about tips. I suggest you should tip even if there is an option not to tip.
Actually there is garage parking around the hotel, but because the temperature is quite cold 30F, valet seems like the right choice.
In my experience, parking has always been a problem for hotels located downtown. I am not too surprised by the impression of forcing valet parking for Hampton Inn & Suites Dallas downtown hotel guests.
What Do You Get for The Room Rates?
The room is quite spacious. It looks clean and well-maintained. I got what I ordered. Room size are according to the information provided on the booking website. With the addition of a sofa, actually the room of my choice fits 5 people.
Coffee maker, microwave and fridge are available and function properly. There are 2 televisions, one in the sofa room and one in the bedroom. Spacious enough for room rates of around $ 150 in strategic locations such as downtown.
I was given the 8th floor, thanks to Hampton Inn & Suites for this courtesy. The typical downtown view is immediately visible from the bedroom window.
Breakfast is available on the 2nd floor. The breakfast spot is not too spacious because it is attached to the business center. I saw guests using the business center chair and table for breakfast because the breakfast spot was quite full.
What Are the Cons of the Hampton Inn & Suites Dallas Downtown?
I feel there is something wrong with the curtain that won’t close properly. The curtain has two layers, the second layer seems to be wrong, only half of it is available. I can’t completely closed the curtain.
Another problem is the wifi connection. It’s actually quite easy, just log in to the provided network, enter your last name and room number, click connect. However, the connection was very weak for my room on the 8th floor. The night I passed without a wifi internet connection from the hotel.
Drinking water. Maybe I didn’t look carefully at the hotel’s policies or information, but I didn’t accept courtesy drinking water in the room at all. Several times staying at hotels similar to Hampton Inn & Suites, I generally receive one or several bottles of mineral water. There is indeed a water tap in the sofa room, maybe guests can drink straight from the tap water, but I don’t usually do that. I bought several bottles of mineral water from the nearest 7-eleven.

Do I Recommend Hampton Inn & Suites?
I probably won’t go back to Hampton Inn & Suites unless I get a better deal for the room rates. I always have to face high prices because I only have weekends or major holidays to be able to travel with my family. That’s why I will only return to the Hampton Inn & Suites Dallas downtown if I get the right price. I do not mind with weak wifi connection and paying valet if the rates are lower.
You know price is my consideration right? I have searched for it, Hampton Inn & Suites can be said to offer competitive prices for hotels in the Dallas downtown area. I’ve been looking for a hotel with the best price on Christmas Eve for sometime in the area around commerce street downtown Dallas.
Why did I choose downtown? simple, the downtown area has its own uniqueness with its sparkling skyline and bustle of people. Walking, eating food and drinks around downtown is a pleasure.
Should you stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites Dallas downtown? All depends on your needs. I myself was surprised when the breakfast turned out to be quite busy for hotel guest. Apart from just having a vacation, hotel guests choose downtown with the reason being to visit family near the area, as well as those who are quite far away.
Their reasons are more or less the same, they want to get a downtown neighborhood experience with competitive hotel prices per night.
