Galveston might be the popular choice for Hustonian to spending a weekend with a seaside feel. The gust of wind, the stretch of sand and the waves soaking the feet are clearly a joy for many people. For children, the beach atmosphere will clearly be ideal for playing with sand, and of course playing with water.
If you live in the city of Houston or its surroundings there are two options for getting to the beach at Galveston. The first option can be made by return trip on the same day. The second option is to spend the night in Galveston. Whatever the choice has its advantage and disadvantage.
If you opt for return trip on the same day, you don’t have to pay the cost of the accommodation (unless you have family / relatives in Galveston who have an empty room to live in).
If you stay overnight (at least), you can relax more on your trip and enjoy the beach atmosphere to its fullest.
In my case, traveling as a family especially with children, it seems like the choice to stay is more friendly. Arrive at destination Friday evening, spend time on the beach all day Saturday and Sunday morning returning after checkout.
Even more encouraging, there are quite a number of hotels available in strategic locations in front of the beach. Skyscanner, hotwire, agoda, traveluro, hotel, booking, or most of the reservation website, there will be many choices that can be used to book accommodation. For parents with two children, spending $ 47 per night (before tax) is quite worth it.

The choice fell on Galveston Beach. This hotel is on the side of the main beach road (seawall Boulevard – Galveston). From the hotel to the beach just walk across. Children? Don’t ask how the reaction of a 4 year old kid who has never seen the beach and an older sister who really misses the beach atmosphere (which is not found around Houston).
