Reliant Energy Reviews: Pros, Cons, and Customer Feedback You Need to Know

This post includes some negative reviews of Reliant Energy that may not align with consumer expectations. As a result, it serves as an important resource to consider when deciding on your fixed expenses. There’s obvious reason why you need energy service this day. Your life depends on the energy such as: gadgets, houseware, electronics, etc. In this case, customer is not having good bargaining position to deal with. All you can is select one service and deal with it.

Reliant energy wants to specialize their energy service for helping customer to save on electricity when you use it most. That is a business promise that attracts customer for sure. Furthermore, reliant energy claim to provide free electricity with 100% solar. Of course, free electricity include the terms and conditions behind it. Now let’s take a look how customer think about reliant energy

What customers like about reliant energy:

  • Customer service experience
  • Transparency
  • Billing Quality
  • Pricing

What customers dislike about reliant energy:

  • Reliant change customer plan without notification
  • Issue with automatic cut off that customer might oversight rather than not paying the bill
  • Issue with average billing option. This offer means in some months customer will pay less than what customer own, the customer build up a debit on the account. The other months the customer will either pay back the debit or build a credit. The customer contract always ended at the deferred amount at its peak. In this situation, the customer only has three options: pay hundreds of dollars to leave, renew contract or convert to monthly plan.
  • Customer do not really understand how to reduce electricity bills under reliant energy. The customer has tried to use less, join a contract yet still, the bill never less.
  • Customer complaint if reliant representative use customer identity without consent.

Summary Reliant Energy Reviews

The business is not new. It was founded years ago in 2000 base in Texas, United States. Reliant energy received A+ rating from BBB (Better Business Bureau). It records that reliant energy receive around 194 complaints within 3 years.

Despite all the good or bad reviews on reliant energy, I have been using reliant energy since 2020.

It took almost 24 hours to start my energy service from the registration and service delivery. I put on auto payment feature to make sure I never miss a payment.

My average billing per month (April 2021 – March 2022) is $167. Don’t you worry, reliant energy gives you all the count (see below).

And you can always check your previous payment based on the bill history menu. I am in an apartment house with spouse and two kids, washing clothes (and drier once in every two / three days), heater at 70 during winter, vacuum cleaning once a week. The most expensive bill was on February 2022 that reach $311.14. I do not recall any outages in 2021 except on the winter phenomenon in Texas (2021).
