Paris to Amsterdam journey is 530km. The journey was smooth, but upon entering the city of Amsterdam, we took 2 wrong turns so that the trip was quite far. We don’t really understand the google maps instructions on the cellphone screen. Moreover, if the internet signal unstable, you will miss the turn for sure. It sucks, but that’s understandable.

There’s about an hour of time spent going back and forth here and there. That was the time I realized to had a GPS from rental car. Arriving at the Double Tree by Hilton NDSM Wharf hotel (check HERE), it was already 8 pm. Entering the parking lot is challenging, there is no place to take a parking receipt. Upon closer inspection, there are several buttons near the crossbar and one of them is the Double Tree hotel. After being pressed then the bar opens.
I parked in the combined parking lot of various companies around the port, but each company has marked its own parking area.
At check-in, the receptionist said if you want free parking, you can do it behind the hotel but until 9 am. I asked permission to move the car and I was allowed to. It’s great because it’s free. The receptionist also showed me where the breakfast was. Even though it feels like I booked a room without breakfast. I said yes and the next day I tried breakfast there.

Sometimes our reservation reads without breakfast and their system reads a reservation with breakfast. It is good to have cereal, bread, milk, fruit and coffee.
I chose this hotel, so I could take the ferry to the I Amsterdam Sign which is near Amsterdam Central and then walk to the Ritz museum where there is the I amsterdam Sign as well.

Turns out we took the wrong ferry. I thought there was only one ferry route, yet there are several ferry with several routes. Even so, it was fun to cross watching the locals crossing with their bicycles. I decided to just go back to the hotel and to the Ritz Museum by car. And it turns out that in both places there is no I amsterdam sign.
The location is now at Schipol Airport. The sign was dismantled on the grounds that there were too many people around the Ritz Museum due to the sign. Perhaps to anticipate acts of terrorism against the Ritz Museum.
The kids just want to go to the I amsterdam sign. So we went to Schiphol Airport even though we were worried that the I amsterdam sign was difficult to find or it was in an area that was forbidden to non-flight passengers.

In fact, it’s easy to find, the location is outside the airport near the entrance/exit that says Schippol Airport. If you come by bus from the city, when you get off you can immediately see the I amsterdam sign.
That’s how we finish Paris to Amsterdam. Next is Berlin one day trip.
