How Foreigners Can Get Indonesian Citizenship?
Married to Indonesian Citizens
Foreigners who are legally married to Indonesian citizens can obtain Indonesian citizenship by giving a statement to become citizens. Statement need to be made in front of appointed officials.
The statement is made if the foreigner has lived in Indonesia for 5 consecutive years or 10 non-consecutive years.
If that statement causes the applicant to obtain dual citizenship, then a residence permit is granted.
Indonesian Citizenship by the Merit
Foreigners who have contributed to Indonesia’s national interest can be granted citizenship by the President after receiving consideration from the Parliament as long as they do not cause dual citizenship.
Become a Child of Indonesian Citizenship
Children with foreign nationalities who are not yet 5 years old at the time legally adopted as children by parents of Indonesian citizens.
If the adoption of the child as mentioned above cause dual citizenship, the child must choose a nationality at the age of 18 years / after marriage.
