Specific

You need to be specific on who is your target clients. You can not be all things to all people. If you do that, you will become less targeted. The worst thing can happens is that your business become boring and forgettable. You have to be specific, specialize, and identify who it is that you trying to go after.

In marketing, you may know this strategy as ideal client avatar. How you can do it?

Line up similarities/characteristics/traits that your ideal clients have in common (demographic – age, gender, income, occupation, etc)

Do not feel that you have to commit on it for the rest of your entire business life. All of that can be adapted/changed as you become more skilled.

Doing this first step, you can design and position accordingly with end result differentiate your business with the competition.

Highlight End Result

Marketing service is very different than marketing products. What’s the biggest difference? Products are tangible, do not require trust. Service can not be touch thus require trust. You need to prove what the end result you can give that are needed by the clients.

You can improve this part by having case studies, testimonials, or other social proof. These are so effective because it shows the end result and has been achieved by other people

Offer Something Unique

One of the way to differentiate our business from the competition is by offering something unique that only through you this end result can be given. The easiest way to do this is through looking at whatever service that you are offering and finding what’s different about your business, or what kind of spin you can apply to it that allows you to hold that position in the market. The point of this step is not to be boring

Market Your Business

The best businesses will lose to regular business that run the best marketing. Prioritize your marketing effort and put it at the center of all of your effort. Instead of believing “build my business and everyone will come”, better do build my business and tell everyone you know about it.
