What actually also works quite well is when you add a video (e.g. from Youtube). By embedding the video including a sensible description for SEO purposes, viewers tend to stay for the length of the video (don’t use too short a video obviously but also don’t go overboard – no one who expects to read a 500 word article then expects to watch a full-length feature film). Or add several videos or a podcast. Works wonders many times.
