Looking for the best car dash cam? The Rove R2-4K PRO is a popular pick thanks to 4K UHD recording, built-in GPS, smartphone connectivity, and a flexible parking mode. In this review we look at its main features and who it suits best.
Rove R2-4K PRO Dash Cam Review
Crystal Clear 4K UHD Recording
The R2-4K PRO records 4K UHD video at 30 fps, with a 2.5K option at 60 fps for smoother footage. The F1.5 aperture gathers plenty of light, which helps capture details such as license plates in low-light conditions.
Smartphone Connectivity
Dual-band 5GHz and 2.4GHz WiFi lets you pair iOS or Android phones with the camera. The ROVE Dash Cam app makes it easy to view, download, and share clips, adjust settings, and install firmware updates.
Built-in GPS
The onboard GPS records speed, compass direction, and location, and stamps this information onto the video. That data can be valuable evidence if there is a dispute or an accident.
Other Key Features
A supercapacitor improves durability in hot and cold weather, while a 150° wide-angle 7-glass lens captures more of the road. Emergency video lock, loop recording, and a G-sensor help make sure important moments are saved without manual effort.
Parking Mode
The 24/7 parking mode offers three options: 1 fps time-lapse, motion detection, and collision detection. When an event occurs, the camera saves a one-minute locked clip and alerts you when you start the car. A hardwire kit, sold separately, is recommended for continuous parking surveillance.
Warranty and Support
Rove is a Chicago-based company offering a 1-year warranty and a 30-day refund policy, with support available by text or email. Check the seller’s page for the latest terms.
